DOH reports 6,285 new COVID cases

On Friday, May 21, the DOH reported 6,285 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, raising the total number of infections to over 1.17 million.

The death toll increased by 141 to 19,763, while recoveries rose by 2,586 to reach 1.1 million.

Active cases stood at 55,531 with critical cases accounting for 1.4%, mild cases for 93.5%, asymptomatic cases for 2%, severe cases for 1.8%, and moderate cases for 1.22%.

The DOH also noted that five laboratories failed to submit data on May 19, and there were adjustments in the case count with reclassifications of recoveries as deaths and vice versa.

As of May 19, approximately 12.1 million Filipinos have been tested for COVID-19.
