64 suspected flying voters arrested in Cotabato City and Buluan

Police in COTABATO CITY and Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur arrested up to 64 suspected flying voters on Election Day, May 12, 2025.

The suspects were allegedly transported from Bukidnon, Sultan Kudarat, Gen. Santos City, and other areas, according to Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao police.

During the arrest in Buluan, security forces seized two hand grenades and several deadly weapons from the suspects, who were found not to be residents of the area.

Congressional candidate Esmael Mangudadatu claimed that the men were hired to vote and cause disturbances with weapons.

Authorities are investigating the group's origin, affiliations, and possible motives, and the arrested individuals may face charges for election offenses and illegal possession of explosives and deadly weapons.
