559 cops in West Visayas, 277 in East vote absentee due to election duties

A total of 559 police officers in Western Visayas are eligible to participate in local absentee voting, which began on Monday.

In Eastern Visayas, some 277 policemen cast their votes on Tuesday during the local absentee voting at the Police Regional Office-8 (PRO-8) headquarters in Palo, Leyte.

Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis from Police Regional Office 6 and Major Analiza Armeza of PRO-8 stated that police personnel are opting for absentee voting due to election duties preventing them from voting at their registered locations.

The police force is expected to deploy more than 9,000 personnel as an augmentation force across various provincial and city offices before the May 12 midterm elections.

Of the eligible voters in Western Visayas, 86 are from the regional headquarters, while others come from different provincial police offices in Western Visayas.
