5 BIFF bomb experts surrender in Maguindanao

Five local terrorists from the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), including experts in making improvised bombs, surrendered to an Army unit in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao del Sur, on Tuesday, May 6.

The surrender ceremony was attended by representatives from various government and military units, including the Ministry of Public Order and Safety-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the 48th Infantry Battalion.

During the event, the individuals turned over their firearms and explosives and formally renounced their affiliation with BIFF.

Major General Donald Gumiran, commander of the Army's 6th Infantry Division, expressed gratitude to local officials for assisting in convincing the terrorists to surrender.

Since 2022, units of the 6th ID have secured the surrender of 737 BIFF and Dawlah Islamiya members who are now living peacefully as workers and laborers in various sectors.
