4 NPAs killed in gunfight with soldiers in Bukidnon

Four members of the New People's Army (NPA) were killed in an encounter with soldiers in Barangay Dumalaguing, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, on Wednesday, August 13.

The gunfight occurred after reports from residents indicated the presence of guerrillas collecting food and money from villagers at gunpoint.

Brigadier General Siegfried Tubalado confirmed that soldiers dispatched to verify these reports engaged in a series of skirmishes with the NPA members.

Soldiers used an Air Force helicopter to transport the bodies of the slain NPAs to a safe area before handing them over to local officials.

The operation involved personnel from various units under the 403rd Infantry Brigade and the 4th Division Reconnaissance Battalion based on intelligence gathered late Tuesday.

Barangay officials in Impasug-ong have been supportive of the military's anti-NPA campaign in their area.
