DTI extends 30-day rent grace period for ECQ

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) extended a 30-day rent grace period for residential and commercial tenants during the extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until April 30.

Under DTI’s guidelines, lessors must provide a minimum 30-day grace period without interest or penalties for unpaid rents due within ECQ.

MSMEs will not incur additional charges under this grace period to ensure their survival during lockdown.

DTI also encourages lessors to consider waiving or reducing rent and renegotiating lease terms with lessees.

Violations of these guidelines can result in fines or imprisonment.
