3 NPA rebels killed, 1 captured, 1 surrendered in Surigao del Norte

Three suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels were killed in a series of firefights with government security forces in Barangay Bugas-Bugas, Placer, Surigao del Norte.

Among those killed were Roderick Maco Bensing, an NPA leader in the Caraga region, and Liezl Dagohoy Mondejar, who died in the hospital due to critical injuries; another unidentified female rebel was also found dead.

The operation involved joint forces from June 13 to 15, including the 30th Infantry (Fight On) Battalion, 901st Infantry Brigade, and intelligence units under the 4th ID.

During this period, authorities reported the capture of suspected NPA member Allan Cacatian and the surrender of another rebel named Ricky Per who led troops to an arms cache.

Brigadier General Arsenio Sadural highlighted that these operations demonstrate the resilience and commitment of local communities and security forces in maintaining peace and order.
