24 arrested for gun ban violations in Central Luzon

A total of 24 individuals were arrested over the weekend in Central Luzon for violating the gun ban that went into effect at the start of the election period.

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 conducted simultaneous checkpoint operations across the region, setting up 314 checkpoints and deploying 2,438 police personnel on Sunday.

Eight violators were apprehended in Nueva Ecija; six each in Pampanga and Bataan; five in Bataan; three in Zambales; and two in Bulacan.

PRO 3 chief Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, who formally assumed her new post on Monday, inspected the seized firearms from the arrested persons.

Fajardo reminded officers to remain impartial and adhere to established guidelines during these operations, emphasizing public cooperation with authorities.

Carrying and transportation of firearms, deadly weapons, and explosives are strictly prohibited from January 12 to June 11, in line with the election period.
