1Sambayan endorses eight senators, seven party-list groups for May elections

The 1Sambayan opposition coalition endorsed eight senatorial candidates and seven party-list groups for the May 12 midterm elections on Saturday.

Among the senatorial endorsements are former Senator Bam Aquino IV, House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro, labor leaders Luke Espiritu and Sonny Matula, former COA commissioner Heidi Mendoza, Dr. Willie Ong, former Senator Kiko Pangilinan, and retired Marine Colonel Ariel Querubin.

The coalition also backed party-list groups including Kabataan, Mamamayang Liberal, ACT Teachers, Magdalo, Akbayan, Bayan Muna, and Bunyog Pagkakaisa based on shared criteria of strong convictions regarding issues such as the West Philippine Sea dispute, good governance, transparency, accountability, and ending political dynasties.

Howard Calleja, convenor of 1Sambayan, highlighted in a Facebook post that their volunteers will actively campaign for these candidates through various means including house-to-house campaigns.

In response to the endorsement, Akbayan Partylist expressed its gratitude and shared commitment to justice and accountability with 1Sambayan, emphasizing their dedication to championing progressive national policies and reforms aimed at improving the lives of Filipino citizens.
