12-year-old dies from condo debris in Quezon City

A 12-year-old student, Jayson Baldonado, who was hit by concrete debris from a condominium building in Quezon City has died weeks after the incident.

The accident occurred on Aug. 12 when three students were walking outside the Atherton Place Condominium on Timog Avenue and were struck by falling concrete.

In response, the Quezon City local government unit (LGU) ordered the construction of a canopy outside the building to prevent similar incidents and vowed to assist Baldonado's family in taking legal action against the building owners.

Quezon City Hall is currently investigating the matter and preparing criminal and administrative complaints against those found responsible for the incident.

The management of Atherton Place Condominium has expressed willingness to cooperate with the investigation, but possible penalties remain unclear as the LGU has not yet released a statement on the issue.
