Zamboanga Valientes in talks to buy PBA franchise

The Zamboanga Valientes are in advanced discussions to acquire the Terrafirma Dyip PBA franchise, awaiting league approval.

Team owner Junnie Navarro stated that owning a PBA team would be a significant milestone for Zamboanga basketball.

Navarro, along with his mother Cory Navarro and Crewsharp CEO Trevor Crewe, met with PBA commissioner Willie Marcial and Terrafirma team governor Bobby Rosales to signify his intention to join the league.

Terrafirma announced its sale in February and is playing its final season in the PBA, with their previous deal with Starhorse Shipping Lines not materializing.

If the sale is finalized, the Valientes, who have a competitive track record including past tournaments with NBA players like Mario Chalmers and DeMarcus Cousins, are expected to debut in the PBA by October for its 50th season.
