Woman posing as nurse abducts newborn from So. Cotabato hospital

Police in Koronadal City are searching for a woman who posed as a nurse and abducted a newborn baby from the South Cotabato provincial hospital on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

The suspect, described as about 5'2" tall, small built, in her late 20s, wearing a green uniform, black hijab, and face mask, introduced herself as a hospital nurse to the baby's parents.

She convinced the parents that the infant, born two days prior, needed a health check and took the child.

The baby's father, a member of an indigenous group, became suspicious after waiting for the suspect to return with the baby and discovered the abduction through CCTV footage.

An eco-bag containing the baby's belongings was found in Barangay Avanceña during a hot pursuit operation.

Authorities have identified the tricycle used by the suspect and are using information from the driver to track her down.

The suspect may face charges for violation of Republic Act 7610.
