VP Sara Duterte urges Filipinos to move forward after father's arrest

Vice President Sara Duterte urged Filipinos to "move forward" following the arrest of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who faces charges of 'crimes against humanity' from the International Criminal Court.

She acknowledged that her father "can no longer be brought back" to the Philippines and that harboring negative feelings about his arrest would be "pointless."

Duterte stated that the Marcos administration appears determined to keep her father in The Hague and that there is no point in harboring anger towards them as they refuse to listen to reason.

She decried the alleged "warrantless arrest" of her father, claiming he was forcibly taken by the Philippine National Police upon his arrival in Manila from Hong Kong.

National Security Adviser Eduardo Ano denied allegations of participating in a conspiracy for the former president's arrest during a Senate hearing.

Sara Duterte flew to the Netherlands the day after her father's arrest and has since been coordinating his defense team.
