VP Sara Duterte says digitalization is key to good governance and fighting corruption

Vice President Sara Duterte emphasized the importance of digital transformation in government, stating that increased investment in technology is crucial for good governance and nation-building.

Speaking at the 51st Philippine Business Conference and Expo, Duterte highlighted digitalization as a key strategy against corruption, making government processes more transparent and efficient.

She explained that by digitizing transactions, processes become automated, seamless, borderless, and transparent, thus eliminating opportunities for illicit dealings.

Duterte believes technology will strip corrupt leaders of their ability to manipulate public funds and empower the government to implement effective checks and balances.

She specifically mentioned that technology must be used to prevent unconstitutional budget insertions, a point relevant to ongoing controversies.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) president agreed with the Vice President, stating the government needs to do more to resolve corruption issues.
