VP Duterte faces plunder raps over P612.5M confidential funds

Civil society leaders and church groups filed multiple criminal complaints, including plunder, bribery, malversation, and graft, against Vice President Sara Duterte and 15 others before the Office of the Ombudsman on December 12, 2025.

These allegations center on the alleged misuse and diversion of P612.5 million in confidential funds during Duterte's leadership at the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) from 2022 to 2023.

A previous legislative inquiry had highlighted the rapid disbursement of P125 million in OVP confidential funds within 11 days, and the House of Representatives had also adopted a report recommending complaints against Duterte.

The PDP calls the plunder complaints recycled and baseless, viewing them as a smear campaign and citing a recent Commission on Audit report giving the OVP the highest audit rating as a rebuttal to the allegations.

Malacañang stated that the plunder and graft complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte should be investigated properly, emphasizing the need for complainants to provide a basis and evidence for their claims.
