VP Robredo challenges Bongbong Marcos to debate

Vice President Leni Robredo challenged her presidential rival, former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., to a one-on-one debate, stating it is his responsibility to the people to clear up disinformation and fake news surrounding him.

Robredo explained her absence from a Comelec event was to spend time with her volunteers, and cited Marcos's past absences from presidential debates as a reason for her challenge.

She believes a debate would allow the public to directly question him and understand the truth, as many currently believe lies.

However, Marcos's spokesperson, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, stated that the debate would "never happen" for several reasons.

Rodriguez believes Robredo is aware of these reasons and that Marcos and his slate campaign positively, focusing on calls for unity.
