VP Leni wishes Duterte well if he runs for VP

Vice President Leni Robredo expressed well wishes for President Rodrigo Duterte should he run for and win the vice presidency in the 2022 elections.

She stated that if Duterte wins, she hopes he does not experience the same difficulties she faced during her term as Vice President.

When asked about the possibility of Duterte becoming her vice president, Robredo commented that it would be "poetic justice."

However, she added that she would "very, very seriously" not treat Duterte the way he treated her, emphasizing that it's not in the people's best interest for the president and vice president to be fighting.

Robredo also reiterated her willingness to give Duterte a Cabinet post if he is committed to the work, recalling her own brief appointments to positions under his administration.

President Duterte had previously expressed his intention to run for vice president, citing a desire for immunity from potential criminal charges after his term ends.

Robredo once served in Duterte's Cabinet as housing czar but resigned in December 2016 after the President stopped inviting her to Cabinet meetings.
