VP Leni to continue helping Filipinos despite not needing IATF post

Vice President Leni Robredo stated she will continue to help Filipinos affected by the COVID-19 crisis regardless of whether she holds a position in the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Robredo emphasized on her radio program that she does not need a formal position to be able to help, but she will not back down from the fight.

She affirmed that if given a job, even a difficult one she didn't ask for, she would always do her best.

The Vice President recalled her previous roles as housing czar and co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), during which she gave her all.

Robredo's remarks came after former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV suggested she lead the IATF, a proposal dismissed by Malacañang.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque had previously suggested Robredo should offer solutions instead of criticizing the government's COVID-19 response.

She dismissed insinuations that she was applying for the IATF post, stating it was laughable and that her detractors were showing fear.
