Villar proposes Philippine Scam Prevention Center

Senator Mark Villar is pushing for the creation of the Philippine Scam Prevention Center (PSPC) to serve as a one-stop shop for scam-related concerns.

The proposed PSPC aims to provide stronger, centralized protection mechanisms for Filipinos against increasingly sophisticated scammers in the digital age.

The center will operate under the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) and collaborate with various government agencies, including the DTI, BSP, NTC, and NPC.

It will also engage with private sector stakeholders like financial institutions, online marketplaces, and fintech platforms.

The PSPC will take a leading role in enforcing laws against digital scams, such as the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
