Villanueva considers joining Senate minority bloc

Senator Joel Villanueva is considering joining the Senate's minority bloc following the recent change in Senate leadership.

Villanueva mentioned that he has discussed the possibility with Senate Minority Leader Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, though the talks are not yet final.

He noted that he is also considering offers for committee chairmanships under the new leadership.

Villanueva was among the seven senators who supported former Senate President Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri during the leadership change, with the group initially deciding to remain as "independent senators."

The group, including Senators Loren Legarda, Sonny Angara, Nancy Binay, Sherwin Gatchalian, and JV Ejercito, is taking time to decide their next move, acknowledging that emotions are still high after the event.

Zubiri stated that the seven senators decided to stay as a bloc and will take a break before making any definitive decisions.
