Vena Energy subsidiary to build P20.2B wind farm in Northern Samar

Vena Energy's local unit, Gemini Wind Energy Corp. (GWEC), is investing P20.2 billion to construct a 304-megawatt wind farm in Northern Samar, scheduled for operation by late 2026.

The Gemini Wind Power Project will cover 777 hectares across 15 towns in the province and will utilize 38 wind turbine generators, each with a 9 MW capacity.

GWEC stated that the wind farm aims to address the consistent deficit in the Philippines' electric power supply and aligns with the goals of the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.

The company highlighted that a wind farm is the most economically viable method to leverage the province's geography and resources with minimal environmental impact compared to fossil fuel plants.

This project was a successful bid in the government's 2023 green energy auction and has been recognized as an energy project of national significance by the Department of Energy and a strategic investment by the Board of Investments.
