UST Tigresses end first round with 66-57 win over FEU

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigresses defeated the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, 66-57, to conclude the first round of the UAAP Season 87 women's basketball tournament with a 6-1 record.

Kent Pastrana and Brigette Santos were instrumental in the victory, scoring eight unanswered points to give UST a 56-43 lead and later sealing the win with a seven-point run that established a 63-53 advantage.

Pastrana finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, despite committing seven turnovers.

FEU mounted a comeback, cutting the deficit to three points with 3:37 remaining, fueled by Shane Salvani, Joann Nagma, and Maxene Dela Torre.

Despite the win, UST coach Haydee Ong expressed disappointment with the team's lack of urgency and urged for better performance in the next round.

The Tigresses are second in the standings behind the undefeated National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs.
