UST secures 8th straight UAAP seniors' general championship

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) has secured its eighth consecutive UAAP general championship in the seniors' division and its ninth consecutive in the juniors' division for Season 87.

The UST seniors' team amassed 346 points, with their teams notching medals in 24 out of 31 events: eight golds, seven silvers, and nine bronzes.

This marks the 48th time UST has won the general championship trophy.

In the juniors' division, the UST Tiger Cubs earned their 24th general championship with 313 points, securing 11 golds, 11 silvers, and one bronze out of 24 events.

UST athletics head Fr. Rodel Cansancio, O.P. expressed happiness for the community and acknowledged the challenge to improve in the next season.

UST collected eight collegiate championships this season, including men's beach volleyball, men's chess, women's tennis, men's and women's table tennis, poomsae, men's judo, and women's fencing.

This season also saw historic achievements for UST, such as the Tiger Cubs ending a 24-year title drought in boys' basketball.

The UST Growling Tigers will inherit the hosting duties for UAAP Season 88 from UP.
