UST Golden Tigresses edge DLSU Lady Spikers in five sets

The UST Golden Tigresses secured a hard-fought five-set victory against the DLSU Lady Spikers, with set scores of 25-12, 22-25, 13-25, 25-23, and 15-13.

This win marks the Golden Tigresses' first winning streak of the season, improving their record to 2-1.

The loss places the DLSU Lady Spikers at a 1-2 record, their worst start in 19 years.

Angge Poyos was the top scorer for UST with 28 points, including 24 attacks, three blocks, and an ace, in addition to 16 excellent digs.

Regina Jurado added 17 points, predominantly from kills, and rookie Marga Altea contributed 10 points.

Cassie Carballo facilitated the offense with 22 excellent sets, while captain-libero Detdet Pepito anchored the defense with 24 excellent digs and 16 excellent receptions.

Poyos emphasized the importance of composure and communication, stating, "Yung composure namin sa loob ng court, yun talaga yung nagdala samin, saka yung communication, yun yung pinakaimportante."

She added that the team returned to their system and trusted each other after losing the second set.
