UST spikers win sixth straight UAAP match

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Junior Golden Spikers secured their sixth consecutive victory in the UAAP Season 87 boys' volleyball tournament, defeating UP Integrated School (UPIS) in a three-set match.

Middle blocker Zach Patrick Maude led the team with nine points, including four aces, while Joncriz Ayco and Gherick Luson contributed seven points each.

Captain-libero Kalel Legaspi and Andrei Amaneo anchored the defense with four digs apiece for UST.

Head coach Clarence Esteban attributed the team's success to improved skills, the addition of a dedicated setter and libero, and the overall improvement of the entire lineup.

The win keeps UST undefeated and on track for a clean sweep of the first round, with defending champion National University Nazareth School and University of the East in second place with a 5-1 record.

UPIS remained winless in six starts, tied with Ateneo de Manila University.
