US pledges aid for Oriental Mindoro oil spill cleanup

The Philippine government, LGUs, NGOs, and other partners have provided P28.3 million worth of humanitarian assistance to the 32,661 affected families in MIMAROPA and Western Visayas.

The DSWD is implementing a 45-day cash-for-work program, and DOLE has started a 30-day TUPAD program for affected workers.

The MT Princess Empress, carrying 800,000 liters of industrial fuel oil, sank on Feb. 28 after running aground off Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
