US invites Philippines to join AI supply chain initiative

The United States intends to invite the Philippines to join the Pax Silica initiative, a multinational effort aimed at strengthening supply chains for technologies crucial to artificial intelligence.

US Under Secretary of State Jacob Helberg stated that the Philippines' participation could focus on bolstering supply chains for materials and products essential for AI development.

Helberg mentioned ongoing discussions with Philippine officials regarding potential deeper supply chain collaborations.

The US plans to formally extend an invitation to the Philippines in the first half of next year to resume face-to-face discussions on this matter.

The Pax Silica initiative, launched recently, includes initial partners like Japan, Singapore, Australia, and South Korea.

The initiative's goals are to deepen economic and technological ties among member nations and to diversify supply sources, thereby reducing risks associated with over-reliance on specific suppliers.
