BI arrests American fugitive wanted for sexual assault

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested an American fugitive, Michael Lewis Ginsberg, 67, in Nueva Ecija who is wanted in the US for alleged sexual assault.

Ginsberg was apprehended by the BI's fugitive search unit while he was attempting to extend his tourist visa at the bureau's field office in Cabanatuan City.

US authorities reported that Ginsberg is facing a warrant of arrest for one count of sexual assault issued by the Superior Court of Maricopa County in Arizona in July 2024.

He is accused of assaulting a client while working as a massage therapist, subsequently fleeing his residence and traveling to the Philippines in June 2024.

The US government has initiated the process to revoke Ginsberg's passport.

Following his arrest, Ginsberg is currently detained at the BI's facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig, awaiting deportation proceedings.
