PH already target of China, says PBBM

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stated that the Philippines is already a target of China, dismissing concerns that the planned US ammunition hub in Subic would provoke backlash.

He clarified that the US ammunition manufacturing and storage facility in Subic Bay is a longstanding initiative under the Self-Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP) program, aimed at strengthening the country's national defense.

Marcos Jr. mentioned that the plan for the facility had been decided almost a year ago and would have been pursued even without US assistance.

He welcomed the proposed hub and other defense deals with the US as essential for the Philippines' security, linking these developments to the modernization of the Philippine military.

US President Donald Trump expressed anticipation that the Philippines and the US would possess an unprecedented amount of ammunition and missiles once the facility is completed.

The President emphasized that these initiatives are part of the United States' assistance to the Philippines' self-reliance defense program.
