UP Fighting Maroons win 3rd straight FilOil Cup title

The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons secured their third consecutive FilOil Preseason Cup championship, defeating the National University Bulldogs 79-65.

This victory makes UP the first team in Filoil history to achieve a three-peat, and they now tie San Beda for the second-most titles won, with only La Salle having more.

Nigerian center Francis Nnoruka led UP with 15 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and a block.

Gerry Abadiano and Gani Stevens added 13 points each, with Rey Remogat contributing eight points, and Reyland Torres and Harold Alarcon chipping in seven points apiece.

Gerry Abadiano was named Finals MVP, and he was joined in the Mythical Team by NU's Jake Figueroa, La Salle's Kean Baclaan, Santo Tomas' Gelo Crisostomo, and Letran's Titing Manalili.

Meanwhile, NU's Reinhard Jumamoy won the Hanes 3-Point Shootout.

UP's win serves as a confidence booster for their upcoming UAAP Season 88 title defense.
