Unified 911 hotline sees 0.17% prank calls after system upgrade

Prank and fraudulent calls to the Unified 911 Hotline have drastically decreased to 0.17% following system upgrades implemented in September.

The upgraded Unified 911 system achieved an impressive 98.62% efficiency rate in handling calls from September 8 to 24, with only 1,495 prank calls out of 884,809 total calls.

Key system enhancements, including geolocation tracking and an active caller directory, are credited for the significant reduction in nuisance calls.

Legitimate calls to the 911 hotline requesting police assistance have surged by 400%, with all these calls receiving timely responses.

The DILG Secretary emphasized the importance of responsible use of the emergency hotline and suggested integrating the National ID and SIM registration systems to further combat fraudulent activities.
