The United Nations, through the Food and Agriculture Organization, and the Bangsamoro government have provided P50,000 grants each to eight groups of Moro entrepreneurs to boost their productivity in producing preserved native delicacies.
These grants are part of the Bangsamoro Rural Employment through Entrepreneurial Development (BREED) Program of the Ministry of Labor and Employment-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MoLE-BARMM).
Many of the entrepreneurs come from families associated with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Moro National Liberation Front.
The beneficiary groups are located in various barangays across Datu Odin Sinsuat, Talitay in Maguindanao del Norte, and Guindulungan, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, and South Upi in Maguindanao del Sur.
MoLE-BARMM officials, including Minister Muslimin G. Sema, Director-General Surab A. Abutazil, Jr., and Abdulrakman S. Nor, led the facilitation of the program.
Minister Sema expressed gratitude to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN for its involvement in the BREED Program.
