Ulysses causes massive flooding and landslides across Luzon

Typhoon Ulysses brought heavy rains across Luzon, causing widespread flooding and landslides in various regions.

In Bicol, several towns in Camarines Sur experienced waist-deep floods, including Iriga City, San Jose, Garchitorena, Nabua, Bula, and Goa.

Catanduanes and Albay province, still recovering from Super Typhoon Rolly, faced submerged villages and impassable roads due to landslides.

Flooding was also reported in Bulacan, affecting areas like Marilao, San Ildefonso, San Miguel, and San Rafael.

In Cavite, a man was swept away by strong floodwaters in Noveleta.

In Marikina City, floodwaters reached the second floor of houses, prompting the mayor to call for air rescue.

The Marikina River reached 21.8 meters, breaching the level of Tropical Storm Ondoy in 2009, leading to ongoing rescue operations in Barangay Tumana.

However, by Friday, floodwaters in parts of Marikina City, including Provident Village, began to subside, although some areas remained impassable due to thick mud.

Vice President Leni Robredo visited Barangay Tumana on Thursday and noted the impassable roads.

A steel footbridge in Marikina was swept away by raging currents, and rescuers in Cainta, Rizal, had to use boats to fetch villagers trapped by neck-deep floods.
