UE Red Warriors end 9-year losing streak to ADMU Blue Eagles

The University of the East (UE) Red Warriors defeated the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles, 69-62, ending a 14-game losing streak that spanned nearly nine years.

This victory marks UE's first win against Ateneo since November 14, 2015.

Rainer Maga and Devin Fikes ignited a crucial fourth-quarter run with back-to-back triples, fueling an 11-0 scoring spree that turned a deficit into a lead.

Precious Momowei was a key player for UE, recording 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Wello Lingolingo contributed 13 points.

Despite trailing by eight points entering the final quarter, UE outscored Ateneo 32-17 in the fourth period to secure the win.

The win extended UE's current winning streak to four games, improving their record to 4-2 in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament.

UE now ranks third in the tournament behind UP and La Salle, while Ateneo, with a 1-5 slate, is in a three-way tie for last place.

Coach Jack Santiago highlighted the team's resilience, particularly with a shortened nine-man rotation due to an injury to Ethan Galang.

Josh Lazaro and Shawn Tuano led Ateneo with 14 points each, but the Blue Eagles fell to a 1-5 record.
