UE launches BS in Criminology with Cybersecurity specialization

The University of the East (UE) is launching a Bachelor of Science in Criminology with a specialization in Cybersecurity for the academic year 2024-2025.

This four-year program will be offered at the UE Caloocan campus starting August 2024.

The curriculum includes courses on cyberspace, information assurance, digital forensics, and security penetration testing.

UE aims to produce graduates skilled in preventing, detecting, and investigating technology-aided crimes.

According to Michelle Concepcion, dean of the UE College of Arts and Sciences, the program aims to equip students to "arm our aspiring criminology students with the knowledge and know-how to fend off and foil these technology-aided crimes whether perpetuated globally or locally."

UE noted that the Philippine National Police (PNP) has committed to enhancing its capacity to address cybercrimes and digital scams, indicating a high demand for security professionals.
