UE coach Gavina suspended 4 games for rant on officiating

University of the East (UE) coach Chris Gavina has been suspended for four games by the UAAP for his profanity-laced post-game rant criticizing the officiating during their overtime loss to La Salle.

The incident stemmed from an unsportsmanlike foul called on UE's Wello Lingolingo during a scramble play, which resulted in an MCL tear for La Salle's Kean Baclaan.

Gavina's unprofessional conduct and remarks toward game officials were deemed contrary to the UAAP's values of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and respect.

In addition to Gavina's suspension, Lingolingo also received a three-game ban for the controversial foul.

This marks the third time in a week that a UAAP men's basketball coach has publicly questioned the referees' performance, following similar criticisms from coaches of Ateneo and NU.
