UAAP mulls schedule adjustment for SEA Games participation

The UAAP is considering adjusting the basketball schedule for Season 88 to allow players to participate in the upcoming SEA Games in Thailand from December 9 to 20.

UAAP Season 88 vice president Mark Molina stated that the board will decide after discussing a proposal with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).

UAAP executive director Rebo Saguisag and Molina met with SBP executive director Erika Dy to explore options for an early conclusion of the tournament.

The UAAP has expressed its willingness to support the national program, with members of the SBP board acknowledging the league's readiness to help the national team at all levels.

De La Salle University stars Mike Phillips and Mason Amos, along with Gani Stevens and Harold Alarcon of the University of the Philippines, are reportedly being eyed by Gilas Pilipinas, led by head coach Norman Black, to fortify the front court.

Gilas Pilipinas is aiming for the country's 20th SEA Games gold medal, and Black has spoken with potential players who have committed to the national team's goal.

The UAAP basketball season is scheduled to begin on Saturday at the Quadricentennial Pavilion.
