Typhoon Tino intensifies with 8 areas under Signal No. 4

Typhoon Tino has intensified, with eight areas in the Visayas and Mindanao now under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4.

At 10 p.m., Tino was located over the coastal waters of Loreto, Dinagat Islands, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h and gusts up to 205 km/h, and moving westward at 30 km/h.

PAGASA has warned of "life-threatening conditions" affecting Homonhon and Dinagat Islands.

Areas under Signal No. 4 include parts of Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, northern Cebu including Camotes Islands, northeastern Bohol, northern Negros Oriental, northern Negros Occidental, and Guimaras.

The typhoon is expected to make landfall or pass very close to Dinagat Islands late Monday or early Tuesday, then cross the Visayas and northern Palawan.

Tino may make its initial landfall at or near peak intensity and is expected to remain a typhoon throughout its passage over the country.
