Typhoon Rolly intensifies, Signal No. 3 hoisted over Catanduanes, parts of Bicol

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 has been hoisted over Catanduanes, northeastern Camarines Sur, and northeastern Albay as Typhoon Rolly (international name Goni) intensifies and moves towards Luzon.

PAGASA forecasts the typhoon's eye to pass very close to Catanduanes, the Calaguas Islands, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur on Sunday morning.

Landfall is possible over Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, or Camarines Sur due to the typhoon's projected path near the Bicol region.

Rolly maintained maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 265 kph as of Saturday afternoon.

The typhoon is expected to remain a typhoon with maximum sustained winds between 185 kph and 205 kph by the time it makes landfall.

Violent winds and intense rainfall are expected in Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, and northern Camarines Sur early Sunday, extending to Quezon and southern Aurora by the afternoon and evening.
