Typhoon Opong exits PAR, leaves 19 dead

Typhoon Opong, internationally known as Bualoi, has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday morning, September 27.

As of 11 a.m., the typhoon's center was located 645 kilometers west of Sangley Point, Cavite City, and all tropical cyclone wind signals have been lifted.

Opong maintained maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h with gusts up to 150 km/h and was moving west-northwestward at 35 km/h towards northern Vietnam.

Despite leaving PAR, Opong has enhanced the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which will bring strong winds and rough seas to some portions of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Negros Occidental.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that 19 people have died in the combined aftermath of Typhoons Opong, Nandong, and Mirasol, with 15 still under validation.
