Typhoon Marce makes 2 landfalls in Cagayan, threatens Northern Luzon

Typhoon Marce, internationally named Yinxing, made its first landfall in Santa Ana, Cagayan on Thursday afternoon and a second landfall in Sanchez-Mira, Cagayan on Thursday evening.

The typhoon was in the vicinity of Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte by 1 am Friday, still bringing heavy rain and strong winds to Northern Luzon.

Marce is moving west-southwest at 20 km/h, with maximum sustained winds now at 165 km/h and gustiness at 275 km/h.

PAGASA warned of potentially life-threatening conditions due to strong winds and storm surge in the Babuyan Islands and northern portions of Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.

It is expected to exit Luzon via Ilocos Norte in the early hours of Friday and leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the afternoon or evening.

The weather bureau no longer raises the possibility of Marce intensifying into a super typhoon, although it is likely to remain a typhoon within PAR.
