Typhoon Leon forces thousands to evacuate in Luzon

Thousands of residents in Luzon have been forced to evacuate their homes due to the impending threat of Typhoon Leon.

In Cagayan province, about 5,000 individuals from 66 barangays in seven towns and Tuguegarao City have sought shelter in evacuation centers.

The Cagayan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office is actively monitoring the situation and has prepositioned food and non-food items for evacuees.

The provincial government's Mobile Kitchen Hot Meals on Wheels will provide food, and relief supplies are sufficient, including packed rice and sacks of rice in storage.

Travelers in Occidental Mindoro are flocking to seaports to avoid potential disruptions from Typhoon Leon, with the local DRRMO monitoring the situation and preparing evacuation centers.

The body of an elderly man who had been missing during Severe Tropical Storm Kristine was recovered from the Pared River in Baggao, Cagayan.

Typhoon Leon is slowly moving closer to Batanes.
