Typhoon Carina, Habagat cause gutter to waist-deep flooding in Metro Manila

Several roads in Metro Manila experienced gutter-deep to waist-deep flooding on Tuesday due to continuous rainfall from Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon (Habagat).

Specific areas in Quezon City, including G. Araneta Avenue and Barangay Sto. Domingo, were reported to have impassable and waist-deep floodwaters, respectively.

A toppled tree in Barangay Sikatuna Village, Quezon City, also affected traffic.

The DPWH reported that two road sections in Mandaluyong City (Boni Avenue cor. F. Ortigas and Boni Avenue, Maysilo Circle) had 30-cm flood levels and were only passable to heavy vehicles.

Despite the flooding, some road sections in the City of Manila remained passable with 20-cm to 10-cm flood levels.

Typhoon Carina intensified with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 170 kilometers per hour.
