PAGASA monitors 2 LPAs that may become typhoons

PAGASA is monitoring two low-pressure areas (LPAs) with a high chance of developing into tropical cyclones.

One LPA is inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), located 830 kilometers east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, and is expected to move west towards Taiwan and Batanes.

The second LPA is outside PAR, 2,425 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, and may enter by Wednesday or Thursday.

Should they intensify into cyclones, they will be named Ferdie and Gener.

The southwest monsoon (habagat) is expected to have lesser impact by Tuesday, with rains still possible over western parts of Northern and Central Luzon.

The recent Severe Tropical Storm Enteng reportedly caused 20 deaths and P698.9 million in infrastructure damage.
