Senator Erwin Tulfo will initiate an investigation into casinos allegedly involved in money laundering by the "BGC Boys," a group of former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials and contractors.
The "BGC Boys," identified as Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara and assistant engineers Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, Arjay Domasig, and Edrick San Diego, allegedly lost over P950 million in casinos.
Senator Panfilo Lacson previously alleged that these engineers cashed out billions of pesos from casinos between 2023 and 2025, potentially as a money laundering scheme involving exchanging cash for chips and declaring winnings.
Tulfo accused casinos of "turning a blind eye" to the large bets placed by the BGC Boys, some of whom allegedly used fake IDs.
He will file a resolution to investigate these casinos and ensure accountability for gaming houses that do not cooperate with the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) in preventing corruption and money laundering by government officials.
AMLC executive director Matthew David stated that penalties will be imposed on covered persons found to have violated regulations.
