TS Emong intensifies, brings rains to North Luzon

Tropical Storm Emong has intensified with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

It is currently located 150 kilometers west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and moving southwestward at 20 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remains raised over Ilocos Norte, western Ilocos Sur, northwestern La Union, and western Pangasinan.

Emong is expected to bring moderate to intense rains to the Ilocos Region, much of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and parts of Cagayan Valley in the next 24 hours.

Both Emong and Tropical Storm Dante are enhancing the southwest monsoon, commonly known as habagat.
