TD Querubin prompts class suspensions in Visayas, Mindanao

Several local government units (LGUs) announced class and work suspensions on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, due to Tropical Depression Querubin.

LGUs that suspended classes include Daram, Samar; Davao de Oro (Compostela, Monkayo, Nabunturan); Davao Oriental (Banaybanay, Caraga, Governor Generoso, Manay, Mati City, San Isidro, Tarragona); Samal City; and Tacloban City, Leyte.

In Davao de Oro, face-to-face classes were suspended until further notice in Compostela, while Monkayo and Nabunturan suspended classes for all levels, public and private.

Davao Oriental saw suspensions in multiple municipalities, affecting all levels and sometimes work in government offices.

Tacloban City also suspended classes for all levels and work in government offices.

As of its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Querubin maintained its strength over the waters east of Mindanao, with Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 remaining over Davao Oriental.

PAGASA warned of potential heavy to intense rainfall in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao due to the interaction between Querubin and the shear line.
