Tropical Depression Pepito to make landfall over Northern/Central Luzon

Tropical Depression Pepito, the 16th tropical cyclone in the Philippines for 2020, is now located 430 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, moving west northwestward at 20 kph.

The weather bureau reported maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Pepito is expected to make landfall over the eastern portion of Northern Luzon-Central Luzon between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

The trough of Pepito is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, and the Bicol Region.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon will have rain showers due to the northeasterly surface windflow.

Localized thunderstorms will also bring isolated rain showers over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA advised affected residents to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate, with at times, heavy rains, and also during severe thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions will prevail in Northern and Central Luzon, the eastern sections of Visayas, Mindanao, and Southern Luzon.
