TD Julian to intensify into typhoon; Signal No. 1 raised over Babuyan, Cagayan

Tropical Depression Julian maintained its strength on Friday afternoon, moving over east of Batanes.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised over Babuyan Islands and eastern mainland Cagayan.

Julian is projected to intensify further, potentially becoming a tropical storm by Friday night or Saturday morning, and a typhoon by Sunday.

Rapid intensification is increasingly likely for the tropical depression.

There is an increasing chance that Julian's projected path will shift westward, potentially moving closer to Extreme Northern Luzon.

Moderate to heavy rains are forecast for Cagayan within the next 24 hours.

Rough sea conditions are expected over the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the eastern seaboard of mainland Cagayan, with small seacrafts advised against venturing out.
