3 HPG officers relieved for alleged EDSA Busway misuse

Three Philippine National Police - Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) officers have been relieved from their posts for allegedly misusing the EDSA Busway and ordering traffic enforcers to stop operations.

The relief order placed two non-commissioned officers in the Admin Holding Unit pending investigation, while an officer who improperly invoked the name of PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil is also under investigation.

PNP-HPG spokesperson Police Lieutenant Nadame Malang confirmed the relief and stated that PNP-HPG director Police Brigadier General Eleazar Matta ordered a thorough investigation.

Director Matta clarified that there was no intention to override the mandate of the Department of Transportation's Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT).

The PNP-HPG cleared Marbil's name, stating that the PNP chief was not involved and the officer's remarks were personal opinions, not an official stance.
